Bow Hold - level Beginner

I ask my students to be sure their cello thumb is smiling while holding the bow. This help give them a visual aid of the shape of the thumb (curved). Sometimes we name all the fingers as members of the child's family and the thumb is the mother. You know how mother's always smile when you're doing something good.
