Simon: Fun Memory/Concentration Game - level All

Thanks to ?

This is based on the electronic game Simon (not Simon Says, though that could work in a group class setting as well), in which you must remember and imitate a series of sounds that becomes increasingly longer and longer. The four sounds to choose from, in this case, are the four open strings. The leader starts by playing one note, which the group imitates. The leader repeats the first note and adds a second, followed by a third, fourth, fifth, etc. in a random series, until no one can successfully imitate it anymore, or until the leader makes a mistake in the pattern. When a follower makes a mistake they must drop out, so that the last one standing is the winner. I always tell the students that they are on the honor system and that I am trusting them to really stop playing when they miss a note. Generally I find that they are quite honest. My students love this game and would gladly play every week if I’d agree to it.
