“Whine” and Cheese Party: Parent networking event - level All

Thanks to Kirsten Marshall

I’ve heard that Kirsten has held these evening get-togethers, to give her students’ parents an opportunity to meet each other and share the joys and frustrations of their Suzuki experiences. On index cards, she has the parents write both their concerns and the things that have worked well for them, which fuels the discussion and allows the parents to remain anonymous if they so choose.

I haven’t tried this idea myself, but I think it sounds like a great way to establish a parent support network, so that they can find someone (other than the teacher) to go to for advice. Serving wine and cheese (pot-luck perhaps?) and arranging for some sort of group childcare could possibly make the event even more appealing for parents.
